Small Business Friendly Councils Program

Developed by the NSW Small Business Commissioner, the Small Business Friendly Councils initiative provides NSW councils with information, workshops, networking opportunities and resources that help councils to support their local businesses to start and grow.

All councils in NSW have access to Small Business Friendly Councils resources and initiatives.

To find out more about this exciting initiative, download a fact sheet about Small Business Friendly Councils, or contact the NSW Small Business Commissioner at sbf.councils@smallbusiness.nsw.gov.au or 1300 795 534.

The NSW Small Business Commissioner is also partnering with Service NSW on the Easy to do Business initiative which is making it faster and easier for businesses to start up and grow. For more information download the fact sheet or go to www.service.nsw.gov.au/easy-do-business

Small Business Friendly Councils events

In 2018 and 2019, the NSW Small Business Commissioner will continue to deliver networking opportunities and knowledge-sharing events through the Small Business Friendly Councils (SBFC) initiative.

Following the success of the first series of SBFC Roundtables with more than 65 Councils participating, the NSW Small Business Commissioner is holding a second series of events in October–December 2018.

Series 2 SBFC Senior Executive Roundtables are intended for Mayors and General Managers across New South Wales. The program consists of a networking lunch with the Commissioner to discuss issues and strategies to support small businesses.

The NSW Small Business Commissioner is also in the process of organising Series 3 in the form of a conference in Sydney in May 2019. The SBFC Conference will include keynote and topic speakers, showcasing Councils’ small business friendly activities, panel discussions, and concurrent sessions on key matters of interest to Councils. We will provide event details shortly.
