Retail Leases Act Review
The Office of the NSW Small Business Commissioner conducted a Review of the Retail Leases Act 1994 to ensure that the provisions of the Act remain effective and appropriate in today's retail leasing market. The Review aims to ensure a level playing field, while reducing red tape and cutting the costs of complying with the Act.
In November 2013, a Discussion Paper was published outlining the issues the Review intended to address. This Discussion Paper was the subject of detailed public consultation.
Through this consultation we have heard from 282 people and organisations. Around 100 people attended our forums and 182 provided written submissions.
We would like to thank all those individuals and organisations who made a submission as part of our public consultation, and in doing so contributed their insights to the review process.
