Small and medium-sized businesses play an important role in their communities by offering a range of goods and services, creating jobs and driving economic growth.

Councils across the state are taking up the opportunity to be part of NSW Small Business Month 2018 – the NSW Government’s annual celebration of the small business sector and the major contributions it makes to NSW.

Councils participating in NSW Small Business Month each receive $5,000 in event grant funding from the NSW Department of Industry to help them celebrate their local small and medium-sized business community.

Already, 118 Councils have signed up to be part of NSW Small Business Month, which will be held in October and feature a range of events tailored to the interests of the sector.

Events will cover topics such as starting a business, planning for growth, marketing strategies, customer service, website development, cash flow and social media.

At the events, small business operators have the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge, access advice and network with other people in the small business sector.
