Your vision for the NSW Small Business Commissioner

Ms Yasmin King was appointed by the Minister for Small Business as the State's first Small Business Commissioner in mid 2011.

Since starting her role, the Commissioner has already assisted many small business operators with issues impacting on their business and has been able to achieve many effective outcomes with the cooperation and good faith of the parties involved.

However, despite these successes, not all cases will be able to be solved through goodwill alone.

The NSW Government has developed proposals to provide the tools the Commissioner needs to deliver outcomes for small businesses in NSW.

The Commissioner conducted an extensive consultation process and Listening Tour, ending on 27 July 2012, to obtain feedback on the proposed legislative framework.

Many stakeholders provided valuable comments which were incorporated into the recently introduced Small Business Commissioner Bill 2013.
